The boob tube crime drama flick Low Winter Sun (2006) only lasted one season before low ratings got it canned, which is a real shame. The show was good, but acting as the lead-in to Breaking Bad meant AMC execs were looking for it to become the next big thing. What went wrong? Well, unlike the 2006 British TV movie of the same name that it was based on, it didn't let us see the big thing hanging between Alex Ferns' legs! While the American version was set in Detroit, despite having the same leading man as the British movie, the British crime drama followed police detective Frank Agnew (Mark Strong) as he tried to satiate his need for revenge by killing Brendan McCann (Robert Wilcox), a corrupt cop that Frank thinks abused and killed Sinada (Irene Bagash), a chick that he loved. But it turns out that Sinada is not dead. Oops. So, with the help of his partner Joe Geddes (Brian McCardie), Frank must manipulate the crime scene to keep his fellow law enforcers: the savvy Daniella Bonetti (Neve McIntosh) and the determined John Hoey (Niall MacGregor) off of his tail. The conniving cops must also deal ruthless gangsters, the Carnegie brothers, Val and Liam (Michael Nardone and Alex Ferns), the latter of which shucks his clothes to reveal his rump and rod. Oh, brother! Yes, if you'd like to really get at the heart of why the American remake didn't quite take, there's no doubt that getting rid of the scene where Alex Ferns strips down to show some poor, beat-up dude his dong and buns! That sure made us feel better! Low Winter Sun, thanks for giving us a good look at Alex's place where the sun don't shine!
