Powder Blue (2009) chronicles the intersection of an unlikely group of people one Christmas Eve in Los Angeles. At the center of the tale, is Rose-Johnny, a stripper with a terminally ill son. Patrick Swayze is Velvet Larry, the sleazy owner of the club where she dances, and Eddie Redmayne is Qwerty Doolittle, a mortician who falls in love with her. Rounding out the cast are Kris Kristofferson, who plays a mob boss, Ray Liotta as Rose-Johnny’s father, who used to work for Kristofferson, producer Forrest Whitaker as a former priest, and Alejandro Romero as a transsexual hooker with whom Whitaker shares a special bond.
Redmayne’s Qwerty has a tender love scene with the wayward stripper. We watch his beautiful backside as he walks up behind her. If you like your man steak a little more dry-aged, the opening scene shows a naked Liotta standing on the beach looking at the ocean. As the camera comes closer, his tight tattooed torso is in full view.
