American Gigolo (1980)

In what was a star making turn for Richard Gere, American Gigolo (1980) sees the possible gerbil enthusiast playing a male escort who specializes in looking rich and classy while bedding wealthy women. Julian Kay (Richard Gere) spends all his money on watches, clothes and cars to maintain the appearance of a rich businessman that women go crazy for. In reality, his business is getting down and dirty with actually rich women like Mrs. Dobrun (Carole Cook), although he'll give a woman like Senator's wife Michelle Stratton (Lauren Hutton) a free go at him every once in a while. Julian is adamant that he won't do gay stuff (boo!) or anything super kinky, since he thinks it'll turn away the kind of conservative women that he usually manwhores for. But when his pimp Leon (Bill Duke) sets him up with a big money job, he breaks his rule one time to cuck for Mr. Rheiman (Tom Stewart) and his BDSM loving wife Judy (Patty Carr). When Judy winds up dead, he realizes he's being framed for her murder. He's desperate to clear his name, but none of the women who could provide an alibi are willing to admit to spending time with the gigolo. He'll need to figure something out, or a pretty boy like him will be spending the next few decades trading sexual favors for loose cigarettes.
