Amy Heckerling’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) is a bone-ified teen classic! With a screenplay by Cameron Crowe, it’s no surprise the movie made an indelible impression on the genre. In fact, it’s the standard by which all irreverent high school comedies are measured. More importantly, the R-rated flick is brimming with beautiful boys! There’s the stoned surfer Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn), the star footballer Charles Jefferson (Forest Whitaker) and a beefy burger-flipper (Nicolas Cage) — all of whom went on to win Best Actor Oscars! In other words, these rising stars will make the members on audience members rise! Although this coming-of-age tale is an ensemble piece, the plot primarily centers around alluring ingénue Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh), her older brother Brad (Judge Reinhold), her best friend Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates), and her smooth-talking suitor Mike Damone (Robert Romanus). The latter dude doffs his duds when seducing Stacy on the couch. During the skintastic act, he serves up his PBJ — pecs, balls and junk! Not to be outdone, Mark ‘Rat’ Ratner (Brian Backer) touts his chest while donning swim trunks. Plus, Mr. Reinhold appears shirtless when he struts his stuff in boxer shorts. Our judges give Judge a 10! While watching these characters endure insufferable part-time jobs and mounting classwork, every viewer is transported back to his/her own youth. Lucky watchers will recall dudes like Mr. Penn and Eric Stoltz, whose topless appearances may grab your attention (among other things). No wonder their teacher was called Mr. Hand!
