First Blood (1982) is the first and most critically-lauded installment of the popular Rambo franchise which includes Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), Rambo (2008), and Rambo: Last Blood (2019). This R rated action flick centers around ex-Green Beret John J. Rambo (Sylvester Stallone). The built brunette is having a bad day. His friends are dead, and he’s a little cracked in the head since he’s got nothing to do but drift. And then there’s that whole Vietnam thing. Don’t get him started. All this vexed vet needs is one jerkwad to push him over the edge. Obligingly, Sheriff William “Will” Teasle (Brian Dennehy) comes along to do just that and get the ball rolling in First Blood: Ultimate Edition (1982). When Will tosses Rambo into the slammer and treats him mighty unkindly, a bunch of people are going to die. In other words, Rambo heads for the hills to wage guerrilla warfare on the police force of poor Podunk, Washington. The only one who might be able to talk him down is his former commanding officer Colonel Samuel R. “Sam” Trautman (Richard Crenna) who advises the fuzz to get the body bags ready. But first, they have to check exactly what kind of heat Rambo’s packing, and the only way to do that is a full-on strip search, followed by a hose-down. Luckily for Mr. Man, there’s a shot of Mr. Stallone’s muscular back and firm rump. Alas, only the deputies on screen get to see Sly’s Viet-dong!
