Matana MiShamayim (2003)

A conman struggles to pull off a diamond heist amidst his close-knit community in the Israeli flick Matana MiShamayim (2003), also known as A Gift from Above. Under the pen and direction of Dover Kosashvili, the story centers around Ottari (Lior Ashkenazi). He’s a porter at the Tel Aviv airport who is planning to steal an incoming shipment of raw diamonds when they pass through customs. But between his wife, his mistress, and the constant demands of his family and nosy neighbors, the thief can’t find a minute of peace to plan the damn robbery. As far as a plot, that’s all we’ve got. But if you’re looking for flesh, Jimali (Koshashvili) and Bakho (Rami Heuberger) go full frontal when they double-team a chick just 26 minutes into the pic. Alas, the scene is anything but romantic. In fact, this harsh treatment of women can be viewed as unfortunate realism. Nevertheless, the film features actresses Anali Harpaz, Ania Bukstein, Attel Kovenska, Becky Griffin, and Irit Nathan Benedek. The movie also includes manly cast members Ian Fisher, Moni Moshonov, and Yuval Segal’s skin! As a man called Vaja, the latter actor shows off his fine physique in the kitchen. When he flashes his abs, all we can say is “bone appétit!” Of course, this foreign film provides dialogue in Hebrew and Georgian. Yet when we see Mr. Segal’s shaft in bed, there’s no need for talk. In other words, the only thing better than A Gift from Above is a gift from below!
