Los Angeles aesthetician and salon owner Hope Goldman (Elizabeth Banks) is about to launch a new beauty line of age-defying skincare products by appearing on a popular television show. The success of this endeavor is key, because not only is she behind on her rent, but another aesthetician named Angel Vergara (Luis Gerardo Méndez) is opening his own shop right across the way and may create some serious competition. It’s right then that she seemingly becomes the target of a crazed stalker, a mystery person who slashes her tires, hacks into her client list to send them lewd emails, and torpedoes her business. Is Angel the one out to get her, or is it someone else? Helping her in her quest for the truth is Jordan (Lewis Pullman), a sinewy life coach who is also obsessed with appearance. We get a great scene of Lewis bulging out in bikini briefs, dancing around to Katy Perry and watching himself lift weights in a mirror right before doing lines of coke and then recording himself ranting a bunch of alpha male nonsense because of course he does that. It doesn’t make him any less hot though. Maybe a little. But he’d win us back if he just whipped out that veiny man muscle of his!
