Mr. Man is Up to His Ears (1965) in desire due to this arousing romp. Also known as Les Tribulations d’un Chinois en Chine, Philippe de Broca’s French flick is loosely based on the Jules Verne novel “Tribulations of a Chinaman in China” (1879). The story centers around Arthur Lempereur (Jean-Paul Belmondo), a wealthy man who suffers from ennui. The poor aristocrat is so bored with life, he tells his friend Mr. Goh (Valéry Inkijinoff) that he wants to die. As such, the obliging pal puts a hit on Art that will take place in a month or so. With news of his impending murder, Monsieur Lempereur becomes revitalized albeit nervous. Further hijinks ensue when he finds out that Suzy (Maria Pacôme), the mother of his fiancée Alice (Valérie Lagrange), has also arranged for him to be killed. While looking over his shoulder for would-be assassins, Arthur crosses paths with a gorgeous showgirl named Aledandrine Pinardel (Ursula Andress). When he watches her shed her threads on stage, Arthur changes his mind and chooses to live after all. While trying to escape from thugs with guns, our hunky hero hilariously puts on a disguise. In other words, he dons a wig and a pink corset to perform a striptease at a gentleman’s club. Needless to say, it’s fun to see Monsieur Belmondo perform a striptease! Other scenes are equally pleasing when the topless star touts his muscular chest. Perhaps that’s why this pic was a box office hit — and spank bank fave!
